Sunday, June 25 is a date that Capitanata wine lovers should mark on their calendars: the Capitanata Summer Solstice returns. The exclusive event featuring Capitanata’s wine and wineries will be held this year atAgriturismo Biorussi (Località Macchiarotonda in Carpino), close to Lake Varano.
After a year’s hiatus, the event is back in a new guise and with several new features: first of all, the thematic character: in fact, the rosé wines of Capitanata will be the protagonists of the entire event; as many as sixteen wineries have joined and will have their rosés tasted, many of them winners of important international awards; artisans and artists will be present who will tell, in their own way, the territory: among them, the painter Leon Marino who will set up an exhibition of his works; a cigar corner will be set up by the Amici del Sigaro (Friends of Cigars).
THE PROGRAM.
The day will kick off at 9 a.m. with a hike around Lake Varano (reservations required at 3683733693), culminating at 12 noon at the Varano Crucifix, with an aperitif of oysters produced by Consorzio Lagunare Di Ischitella and accompanied by rosé wines (reservations required at 3683733693); at 1 p.m.30 – for those who make reservations at 3477951255 – Agriturismo Biorussi will organize the Solstice Menu lunch with tasting of local dishes and rosé wines.
At 6:30 p.m., at Agriturismo Biorussi, there will be a meeting Capitanata is Taste, moderated by journalist Giorgio Ventricelli who will dialogue about food, wine and territory with the farmer cook, Peppe Zullo, the contact person for the producers of the Slow Food Gargano Podolica Caciocavallo Presidium, Giuseppe Bramante, the contact person for the producers of the Slow Food Gargano Podolica Cow Presidium, Michele Sabatino, AIS Foggia delegate Amedeo Renzulli, Slow Food Puglia delegate Salvatore Taronno.

It will be possible to taste rosé wines paired with gastronomic delights made by the Gargano and Capitanata Chefs Association represented by President Mario Falco. The evening will be graced by the music of De Iure Sextet featuring: Salvatore de Iure (piano), Vittorio Basanese (accordion), Tiziano Paragone (drums), Ulrico Priore (double bass), Cito Iannacone (guitar and vocals), Gina Palmieri (vocals) and special guests Pino Lentini (saxophone) and Sally Cangiano (guitar and vocals).
“We wanted to tell the story of the territory through a wine with an Apulian soul such as rosé, which this year has been so talked about thanks to the many important awards won by the Capitanata wineries,” say the organizers, who continue, “the Capitanata Summer Solstice is a moment of encounter where the wineries, in synergy, tell about themselves through wine, which has always been an element that goes well with everything: food, territory, art.
